Old-Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/2 Tbsp. baking powder

2 Tbsp. sugar

½ tsp. salt

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter

3/4 cup milk (more or less if needed)

Filling: 5 cups blackberries

3 cups sugar

3 cups water

1 Tbsp. butter

1 small box blackberry jello

1 tsp. lemon juice



2Mix first four items.

3Add butter and cut in with pastry blender until coarse crumbs form.

4Add milk and stir until soft dough forms.

5Lightly flour surface and using rolling pin, roll dough to 3/4 inch thick.


7Mix blackberries, sugar, water, and butter in a two-quart sauce pan.

8Bring to a slow boil.

9Cook until berries are soft.

10Remove from heat and add jello.

11Add lemon juice.


13Cut dough in to long strips and make layers with dough and pie filling.

14Make top crust and back at 350 for 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
