Creeping Crust Cobbler

Fun to make with your favorite berry


1/3 cup butter, melted

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 cup milk

2 cups berries

1/2 cup sugar

For a low-fat crust, substitutte 1/2 cup applesauce for the butter


1Pour melted butter into a greased 2-quart square baking dish.

2Stir together flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl.

3Stir in milk.

4Pour over melted butter.

5Cook and stir berries and 1/2 cup sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat just until heated through and fruit starts to juice out.

6Carefully spread over the batter.

7Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown (crust will rise, then fall during cooling).

8If desired, serve warm with whipped cream sprinkled with ground cinnamon. Serves 8-10
